I have a Nokia N8-00, with 16Ghz, Os symbian ^3, wi-fi, a 12 mgapixels camera, a secondary camera, etc, etc, and I think is one of the best smartphones on the market.
Shortly after the N8-00 became available I ordered on and have been extremely satisfied. The camera is outstanding and the phone reception 2nd to none. One thing I need to experiment with is remote and vpn to my home or work PC. This nokia works fine with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse
Any phone using the symbian OS is no smartphone to me irrespective of the features that come with it

Sad that the absolute best of the lot gets little recognition, let alone, any substantial support for what is the best operating system in smart phones.
Talk about bad timing, just when the phone consumer is propogandized and swayed by the rush to install every app they can, so's they can text their friends; hey, I've got 8,647 apps on my phone, Palm makes their release.
So, the average consumer, instead of judging the Pre and its incarnations and the OS for it versatility, functions and features, judges it on apps, and texts their friends, hey, that's a POS, cause they ain't got no apps.
So Palm Pre's fall by the roadside, gasping for anyone to reach out and try it. Sprint dropped the ball and then Verizion on support. Making the stampede even worse.
Now we've got HP trying to figure out what to do with this masterpiece of technological wizardy. Their history doesn't indicate they will do any better.
It's simple on how to market this phone. Go to the reviews. Sort out the whiners, complainers, assailants, saboteurs, and the ignorant and stupid. Read reviews written by tech people, who recognize the phone for what it's worth. HP, are you listening here, now? Glean from those reviews the testimonials that will sell this phone. Interview them, make a series of commercials, with these people extolling the versatility and functions of this phone. Market your already established and loyal customer base to those who don't but need to know . There is no other way to market this phone, but to let those who know tell those who don't.

I've tried just about every phone and phone gadget that's come down the pipe. After struggles and disappointments with just about all of them, when Palm released the Pre I knew I'd found my phone. It's about the easiest phone I ever used, and the Web OS is the simplest and most efficient OS so far. I can't begin to tell you how many cards I've had open and still be able to make calls and search the internet at the same time. Now that HP has released the Pre 3 isn't it time you tried one too. You know it's not the phones, it's the crappy super expensive plans that you get locked to.
I think your bias is showing with the words "The Apple iPhone 4 is a very successful smartphone that will continue to appeal to millions of people."
It defined the market and still continues to romp home, so 'still appeal' sounds like it is a fading star. Get real... I'm no fanboy of any special mob but the elephant in the room is always going to be Apple as it sets the yardstick, only when Apple stumbles will the rest have a real chance to topple the primacy.... and as an overseas contributor familiar with working in Europe and USA - I can say your network suppliers are your biggest problem... having said that my iPad worked flawlessly in the USA recently on a T-Mobile sim.... very pleased with their service - Vodafone UK was awful, Vodafone Ireland great, and Vodafone Singapore showed the way it should be....
Samsung have some great kit across a lot of areas and my daughter has an Android Motorola - loves the phone but as an 18 year old she finds trying to update the Android is a pain and can't configure the Apps shop access....need to make it easy and seamless if people will flock to it....

Please dnt go for N8...Its very costly........I lost my money...I hav given that as a present to my friend Diona.....
