Like I've mentioned before, I consider Carbonite the "last line of defense" after comprehensive and local backups. Considering that your client managed to take out both of the local backups, it sounds like Carbonite did exactly what it was intended to do. My guess is that your client, albeit impatient, was quite happy to get all his data back.
