Having to run it after login is not a big deal thankfully
Its not convenient, but, its not a problem for me either. Though for my folks this would be unacceptable.
Can you do like in Windows, make a batch file that does the various mounts and connections, then actually opens the folder/file. We do that all the time at work for our non tech people. We write batch files that create the ODBC connections, create the drive letters, and run the program, then just change the icon to be the programs icon, and they have no clue.
Maybe something like that in Nix would be good, a script with a folder icon that auto mounts the share and opens the folder.
