All sorts of applications mount ISOs, etc. Linux and OSS apps are hardly alone in this. UI features, like where you have a logoff function, are hardly IP. Many, many UIs share features.

You usually don't see "mounting" in Windows because it automounts nearly everything without user input, and rarely refers to mounting.
