Tired of Luddites
This reminds me of the kind of Luddite nonsense that some folks came out with when stereo sound first came out ("they're just hoping to sell us all two amplifiers, and two speakers, when one high quality one is perfectly adequate!"), and then again when four-channel sound was being promoted... (which finally seems to have morphed into "surround sound").

Agreed that bad early 3-D (like those awful red-and-green glasses) were pretty terrible, and various of the 3-D technologies work better than others (the circularly-polarized stuff is dramatically better than the older perpendicular-polarization that older 3-D projection uses). There will be various approaches (remember the early "color TV" approaches with color wheels that some people were promoting in the early 1950's?) but (like stereo sound) the technology will mature and these Luddites will achieve the ridicule in retrospect that their positions so richly deserve...!

Meanwhile, the comment that the currently good 3-D technologies somehow hurt the color rendition is patently ludicrous.

Remember when the President and founder of Digital Equipment Corporation famously said that "There is no reason that anyone would want a computer in their home." wink

Or, no less an industry leader than the founder of Warner Brothers: H. M. Warner, the head of Warner Studios in Hollywood in 1927, when questioned about the possibility of movies with sound, asked ???Who wants to hear actors talk????

There are a bunch more such amusingly stupid prognostications at: http://authspot.com/quotes/quotes-of-underestimation/
