All True but Irrelevant
Everything in this post is spot on but when has the general public ever been really concerned about quality. Mostly it's just shiny new things that they're interested in. For example, wide screen TV's with the ability to completely distort a 4:3 picture so that it filled the 'fabulous' new wide screen or early plasmas which were massively inferior to CRT but, hey, you can hang it on the wall. There are lot's of other examples but there's no point in boring you.

3D is inevitable and it will get better in the same way as mp3 downloads are mostly delivered at a decent bitrate now, (although it would be nice if it were lossless).

In summary most of the great unwashed don't give a toss about quality, it's novelty every time.
