Jason's coments are right on...for now...
The only caveat I have with the article, would be that it is only true presently. Right now it is, indeed, a scam. Clean up the tech, make the 3D better, offer the 2D in theaters along with the 3D and let the market make the choice. From what I've seen of the market studies, the demographic is moving away from 3D, albeit slowly. However, the trend is gathering strength every day. This summer may be the straw that breaks the proverbial camels back with so many offerings in 3D. From my admittedly small sample group, it looks as if 3D needs much more improvement before we spend a premium to see a movie in 3D, let alone spend $500+ on a phone or gaming system that gives arguably superior experiences on 2D. Americans vote with their dollars and consume tech like no other nation on the planet; the summer of 2011 will be a turning point in one direction or another... Just my 2 cents...
