They ran out of stories a while back.
Since that time, Hollywood has been trolling (double-pun intended...) 1960s-70s TV shows and comic-books* for its material. Now "Hollywood wants you back....with 3-D panorama!" No doubt.
*I know, the term is supposed to be 'graphic novels'; sounds so much more like 'literature' than "comic books"!
