Setup?
sparent 27th Apr 2011
I was hoping to get a real glimpse of Windows 8, not just a bunch of unannotated screenshots that show me how to run the Setup.

This did not satisfy my curiosity.

Why does tech republic even bother.,...yes MS is using Windows 7 inititial configuration screens for Windows 8 (if true)....only unique screen was last which stated do not link information, confidential. So Sonya Thompson, you revealed propriety information from MS which is illegal and worst, you revealed nothing new or unique. Is that what working for the Information Technology PRESS does. Break the law and GAIN nothing. Time to find a new job.

Not seeing anything different than 7. Are you sure this was from 8???
bother to read your journal. Even though I try to scan it quickly and pick only the articles that might be most useful, I still feel disappointed and slightly cheated when they too often turn out to be superficial, misleading and shallow. This one just might push me over the edge. This is not worthy journalism.
Tech Republic's articles have indeed become increasingly superficial, misleading and shallow. BS may get more eyeballs but not for long.

I think you may have missed the irony in the "article". Big milestone, installation screens that look like 7...

I would have liked to think that by now Windows would have figured out a way to make all of my decisions for me....showing me that I still need to make configuration decisions is really a huge let down. Windows is usually so good at "guessing" what it is I want to do so until they create an OS that does all my work for me...... well.......No...still won't use it.....

It's GOLD!

With that last screen shot, MS will be able to tell who leaked it!
I hope they find out who leaked it. What's up with people and their lack of morals, or lack there of, these days??
I'm a Win XP wrangler for numerous networked machines. There's enough fun to be had without the headaches of switching to Win 7 (aka Vista SP3).

And anyway, why switch to Win 7 when Win 8 is so close to release? "Close" is relative, of course, as Uncle Albert once so famously commented. But still....

Moreover, as we're hearing from the Redmond Wonks, Win 8 is sooooo much better (sarcasm alert!). I hope it is, actually, since MS needs at least two rousing successes to overcome the awful taste left by that Vista nastiness.

But...switch to Win 7... now? Why I should poke myself in **both** eyes with sharp sticks?

***********

Ummm, fanboyz/fangrrrlz, please spare me the ranting about the virtues of Win 7. I've heard it all and am NOT impressed!

My biggest problem with this gallery is what it attracted. My complement would be that they all have their own unique whine.
This is a BIG JOKE... BIG LIE....
