Be interesting to see where this goes (while trying to maintain objectivity)...
What I find interesting, though, are the comments to the tune of:
"OMG! We have XXXX employees, at $20, that's ($20*XXXX) A MONTH! That's (12*($20*XXXX)) a YEAR! I don't have anywhere near that kind of budget! Not even close!"
So, you refresh your entire fleet, at once, on regular intervals? What's the mix of desktop/laptops? Anyway, let's say there's an average hardware cost of $1,000.00 per seat. If you have, let's say 5,000 employees, then your complaining that it's cost $100,000/month; $1.2mil/year, heck $3.6mil for the term.
If you stick to a three year refresh, those $1,000 seats you currently have will cost $15mil every three years. And that still hasn't accounted for OS licensing, office apps, CALs, etc.
As has been mentioned, each situation needs to be individually assessed. If it doesn't make sense, don't do it. If it does (and there are no other concerns, such as security, data-ownership, etc), then go ahead. Just be sure to be informed as possible.
Anyway, I saw these comments a couple times, reading through, and couldn't stop myself from responding...
