This does not provide any services like Apple TV. This would just replace the HDMI cable that you might run from the Apple TV box to the display.

You could use it to transmit a signal from a computer, cable box, Roku, Blue-Ray player etc to the display. The big deal is that it transmits a 1080p signal with full 5.1 digital sound - no wires.
