DRM is largely dying
this would have been a relevant essay ten years ago, when DRM was all the rage, but it isn't now. as brian has mentioned, many distributors sell content DRM free, even former proponents of DRM. From the two big and 3-4 small online music stores i buy my content from, none of them use DRM.

DRM, essentially, is a by-product of out-dated pre-internet business models. The faster industries come to terms with this reality, the faster things improve for all stakeholders.

For Linux to include DRM at this point, therefore, is nonsensical.
