I think both can work. I see Apple's iCloud working on a personal level, like dropbox, allowing me to sync my personal content and sharing it when there is a need. Google's concept could also work the same way, but in organization's that thrive on virtual teamwork, collaboration is key. Google can thrive in that environment.
