Misconceptions that spread
We need to make sure we don't assume that we have mastered it all either.
There are times our craft must seem like a black art to the average user. Our inexhaustible depths of knowledge of all things arcane never fails to impress. The trouble is that sometimes we start to believe our own press.
The correct answer to many situations is "I don't know, but let me find out". If our pride keeps us from uttering those words, instead muttering something about sacrificing a virgin to the SCSI chain, we need a reality check or a new career.
One thing is certain, if the customer discovers the man behind the curtain, you are done, no matter how much amplification or smoke you use.
