Apple currently doesn't sell a white iPod touch which would be similar in material build as the iPhone. The closes thing to a white iPod is the SILVER iPod Classic. Even the old iPod Videos wouldn't be a proper comparison because the white faceplate was made of plastic and not glass like the iPhone. As was stated in the article, the reason for the delay was because of light leakage, the glass on the iPhone sits on top of thin plastic which gives it color, the white pigment combined with thin plastic was allowing light to leak out and was causing issues with the camera
