I'll test drive it
I'm willing to give anything a test drive for a month or so. But I may delay my joining for a bit just to see what issues are there and how well and/or quickly they get ironed out.
Like a lot of folks I'm kind of looking to consolidate my online "life" but I've kept the various aspects of that life as separate as possible for good reasons. I've all but abandon my Facebook and only keep it because of certain groups/events. Twitter is nice and all, but it could just as easily be an unglorified RSS feed. I only just bit-the-bullet on Linkedin and joined so I'm still feeling it out. Tumblr has actually become my go-to spot for the geekier aspects of my life yet it lacks a lot of organizational and security functions I like to have.
My local friends aren't interested about my nerd-outs. My online friends couldn't care less about renaming servers. My coworkers should probably not see the pictures from Dragon*Con I got tagged in. Then I get the one guy in the office down the hall that I bowl with that I keep pestering for pics of how his Stormtrooper armor is coming along.
I'll switch and stick with Google+ if it gives me more options and control ... and of course if people use it which is always the deciding factor.
