and certainly poor penmanship should not be something that influences a report card 'grade'. Getting my report card during my grade school days was always a tearful and traumatic experience. I still remember it clearly to this day nearly fifty years later; All A pluses and a C in 'Writing'. My father had beautiful handwriting and my son is a skilled artist. But penmanship skipped a generation in my family. Only I can read my own handwriting.
