As a CIO, I have to look at both sides of any new IT initiative; cost versus benefit. Upgrading and replacing so that you have Enterprise applications that work on many platforms is not always cost efficient.
I love new stuff just like the next IT guy but in a weak economy, getting that new stuff to work with legacy applications can take up a lot of resources.
