I bought all my own stuff for college. My laptop, books, bag, tuition, etc. My son is many years away from college. If he wants whatever the latest thing is at that time, he can buy it himself. HopefullyI'll have saved up some money to help him pay for college. So I say if you're college age kid wants you to buy him/her an iPad, tell them to save up for it and they can buy whatever they want.
