I was lead developer on a system that registered and processed benefit claims for a government department. The system led the user through a claim wizard - page by page, changing paths through the system based on previous answers. Claim payments were dependent on claimant details (age, employment status ect) and details of dependent children.

One of the systems users, after training, refused to use such a "perverted and ungodly" system. When asked to explain, he said that the first screen was entitled "Enter a claimant", and the next screen was entitled "Enter a child", which he believed to be part of a satanically inspired plot to encourage paedophilia! What made this the more unbelievable was that this office was not in a bible-belt city like Birmingham, Alabamha, but in Birmingham, England.
