At 40$ it gives you a password manager with encrypted database which you then have to use seporate software like Dropbox to keep in sync across multiple machines.

Why would you recommend this 40$ solution instead of Keepass which seems to do the very same thing without the licence fee? The open source nature of Keepass adds a level of trust through potential for peer review; this is important when dealing with security/encryption stuff.

If sync across mulitple machines is a primary need, wouldn't Lastpass be a better suggestion than 1Password? A single server stored database granting sync to local software clients or use directly through web browser login.. no relying on Dropbox sillyness; especially with Dropbox responsability towards customer privacy being in question as of late.
