Not an overnight change
If Microsoft toppled today, you think all copies of their software would instantly disintegrate?
The OP's points are silly and naive - she refers to the support structure for M$ products falling down if M$ did. If anything, that business would increase to fill the void. And all those poor people who know only M$ might be smart enough to learn something GNU.
I do want a world without Microsoft. I want an OS vendor that does not also shove dozens of other products down my throat, integrating an end-user application into the operating system, which is incredibly stupid, except from a marketing position. I would M$ to continue with M$ Office, but have it run equally well on Apple, Linux, and any Windows still running, same for Open Office (which I believe already does). I would also like M$ to adopt standards and NOT hack them up to suit their own needs. Etc.
