Blog alchemy: Five Tips turns into Five Apps

When listing and describing five apps for .... whatever task, it would be helpful to list "How tos" for simple tasks in more complex programs. For example, I would rather learn how to do a few more basic tasks in GIMP than how to use some less powerful and less known program that won't do as much in total. I can continue to build skills in GIMP without ever having to switch to another graphics program at some point (at least for most tasks). I can't outgrow it.
