Or text message. My phone is in my pocket so if it makes a sound I am more likely to notice it. Believe it or not, I am not always staring at my desktop. I would like to be notified on my mobile device, as if it were a pager.
Do you know a quick way to send a text message from Linux?
I'm sure sending an e-mail would be easier if you had e-mail notification on your phone.

personally, when it comes to "local" notifications, that is something that the computer does to catch your attention when you're in front of it, I prefer visual ones for the reasons I mentioned at the end of the post. You are right to say that when you aren't in front of keyboard and screen, SMS or audio are much better, but that is a different case. I do plan to write about that too, however.

I know of no program that will send an e-mail reminder to more than one address, but if anyone knows of one I'd be interested!
