What has my Android Tablet done for me?
Plenty. Although I'm only on Android 2.2, it runs every App from my phone, in full resolution (pre-iPad apps for iOS were locked at 480x360, but Android has always supported multiple resolutions). I surf the web on it daily -- the full web, not just the iOS visible subset. I use it as an eBook reader... my particular model is visible in full sunlight. I used to carry around about 5lbs of guitar music, now I have it all on the tablet. A few games, handy on long flights. I took it along on two vacations this summer, left the laptop home.. good for email, web access, entertainment (will play HD videos from USB sticks.. not HDDs yet; USB and HDMI are built-ins), etc.

During the hurricane Irene aftermath last month, I kept in touch (via wireless tether to my smartphone) and also caught a few films, streamed from Amazon.. neither laptop lasted a single DVD on a full charge (ok, sure, these were both high performance laptops... there are plenty of lower performance models with longer life.. but with care, I got 12-14 hours out of the tablet).

Claims that Android tablets are useless are not true evaluations of Android, but do effectively demonstrate the writer's ignorance.
