Drop the prices and you have a Kindle Fire
Kind of ironic that we were all discussing this point a couple of weeks back. Now Amazon presents the Kindle Fire, a very well specced Android device for $199. I suppose that there may be a bigger device in the offing if the demand is there in the future. Surely that will break the back of many tablet device manufacturers. It is the opportunity that some people on this board recognised, that you can't compete directly with Apple, you have to go your own way. I would now say that the author who started this blog may have been correct, that the Android tablet manufacturers to this point in time have failed in terms of their challenge to Apple. Apple's sell nearly 75 per cent of the tablets sold today because of all of the backend services that they offer. Amazon already have the infrastructure (cloud services) to support remote devices and by bringing the Kindle Fire to the marketspace I hope they are able to offer a viable alternative to the Apple monopoly. I actually own an Apple IPAD 2 but the Kindle Fire is what the tablet marketspace needed. At the price they are offering it for I may even buy one for myself.
