Texting is great is you only need a quick response BUT most people don't use it for that. (and pulling out one example when it works does not prove that it's best for everything as others imply) Most people that I know will text literally for hours to accomplish what they could have accomplished in a 5 minute phone call. The trick is to use it as appropriate.
