Remember your SciFi
In Science Fiction (which has proved as predictive as any other long term system) it was never the first 'thinking' computer that killed people/societies/humanity. It's only after we become complacent, taking them for granted, that the misbehaving begins. Of course Watson is totally under control. It's his great-grand-children we must be careful of. And not really even them. It's the complacency of the society that builds them. And the attitude of those that engineer them that such designs are simple or so routine and reliable that proper safe guards are no longer observed.

We have already raised a generation who cannot make change without their Point of Sale's direction. How much more of our thinking are we willing to let computers do? Quite a bit if these comments are any indication. Even Politics was mentioned! As if anything coming out of a computer is both infallible and objective. A computer cannot do anything it wasn't programmed to do. The biases and limits of the Programmer(s) will be reflected in all it does. Does anyone but me see the slippery slope we are dancing on?
