Bandwidth speed will be the equalizer for IT
Once Internet bandwidth speeds match that of LAN speeds IT can and some are already providing cloud type services to their employers, furthermore IT can provide peace of mind to their employers that their data is being safe guarded by people with their best interest. I???ve been working in IT for over 15 yrs and I have always worked with consultants and have been responsible for the purchase of the business???s technology needs so this morphing thing happen a long time ago.
I almost fell for this decentralized concept a few years ago with the thought of mobile devices and then I realized that most businesses follow what government mandates as the ???law??? and even what is the norm in safe IT practices. So unless big corporate environments such as hospitals, insurance companies, law firms and government are willing to decentralized their data we are here to stay for a while.
