Steve Jobs
Hero or villain, Steve Jobs was a giant in the industry, and everything we all do was so incredibly influenced by the man. Very few people can single-handled change the course of society. You've got to respect the man for his achievements, and realize that the tech sector is somehow lessened by his passing. He didn't just change technology, he changed the face of cities (San Jose), he changed the fabric of society - and he started with ICs and breadboards in the garage of a small suburban home. What an amazing life. I wouldn't have wanted to be born in any other time. Can you imagine how boring life was before visionaries like Grove, Moore, Noyce, Gates, Hewlett, Packard, Wozniak, and Jobs revolutionized our world? Being there for the whole ride, from start to finish is such a fortunate time to experience. As a young boy I wanted an Apple II, 30 years later I was chasing after iPads and iPods. I think it would be easy to argue that among all of the names above, Jobs stands alone as the most broadly influential.
Written on my Mac Mini by a Microsoft Shill and Android fanboy. Thanks for 30+ years of amazing Tech, Steve. I'll miss you.
