The home key works the same way for all android phones. Hold it down and you will see all of the apps that are currently open.
HTC also shows every open app when you pull down the notification bar. (one swipe away)
HTC does a good job managing resources without the need of any non-HTC third party application.
Simply pull down the notification bar and choose the (HTC) task manager application to manually kill an app. (not that I find that necessary that often)
