Question on the teardown.
Bill,

I recently purchased a 10.1 Galaxy tablet (I'm thinking the devices are the same, except one is bigger) in Nov-2011, I am having to send it to Samsung for repair today. There are problems with the 'newton ring' affect under the glass of the display, this is an oily bubble that appears. (videos can be found on youtube relating to this problem) in the middle of the screen and you can push it around with your finger. Three weeks after purchase - device was not cheap (32GB, 4G enabled) - the bubble started small and was hardly noticeable at day 5, at day 15 it is about a 1/3 of the screen in the middle. I do not put a lot of stress on the touch surface, light pressure mostly with a conductive stylus.

I'm curious if in your tear downs you have discovered an oily film layer inside of the devices that could be causing this problem? Various people have commented that this is caused by imperfections in the gorilla glass against the touch screen pick up points that detects finger/conductive stylus moments, but I wonder if this is speculation on their part.

To be clear, I really like the device, I own multiple Samsung products and I'm looking forward to getting the tablet back.
