In my experience, it is easier to find a job when you are out of work than
when you are employed. I've never been successful finding a job while I was already employed, but usually within a matter of two or three weeks, I've got a better job at a much better salary when I've decided it's time to move on. I think part of the reason is that I won't walk out on a job unfinished, and all the jobs seem to come in through agencies from companies that want people tomorrow. They don't want to wait two weeks until you've finished up all the projects you're working on.

So my recommendation is to quit the crappy job, collect unemployment for a while, catch up on your sleep, get all the deferred maintenance on your car, your teeth, and your self, done, and then get a better job.
