Would just add like to add that in addition to automating monitoring of cloud deployments, it would be equally helpful to automate monitoring of a company's own infrastructure residing in their own private data center. Tools such as LogicMonitor (http://www.logicmonitor.com/) now automate monitoring of both cloud and private data center from one application. (disclaimer: I do work with LogicMonitor)
