There's something about I.T. work that makes many people try to devalue it. They don't want to respect it at the level they would the home builder. I'm not completely sure what it is, but if that weren't the case, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
That is honestly the root cause of at least half of I.T. workers' frustration. There is a perception that basically anyone can do "it." Your recommendations for specialty is going to fly in the face of what these people want to believe.
