While not often considered in the enterprise discussions on blog and publications, this is a huge issue for school as not only employees, but student return with a whole host of new "toys" they want to add to the network and use in the classroom. The management oF BYOD in this environment is growing quickly and is worth a look by "enterprise" to see how they (schools) are dealing with the issue - Rogue IT in Education and the BYOD, DIY model. - http://www.williamstites.net/2011/10/25/rogue-it-in-education-and-the-byod-diy-model/

Computer parties
BALTHOR 16th Dec 2011
So every Friday we meet at someone's house for a computer party. We make a backup and restore disk for my computer, and since we all have the same computer,it works in all of our computers. Now that we're invincible we go on to discover downloading and software.Group discussion and disks to take home. Before long you'll be making DVD's from downloading YouTube clips.Group projects,a Bring Your Own(BYO)buffet and you can even involve the kids.Make that old computer come back to life.

The next step
spdragoo@... 20th Dec 2011
Once BYOD becomes the norm, we will see:

-- BYOS: Buy Your Own Software, aka "You brought your personal tablet in to use at work? That's great; don't expect us to pay for your app store purchases, though."
-- BYOTS: Bring Your Own Tech Support, aka "You bought it, you broke it, so you fix it"
-- KYRU: Keep Your Resume Updated, aka "You went to what website while connected to the company network, & you cause how many customer records & files to be hacked? Here's your pink slip, don't let the door hit you on the way out."
