How can anyone avoid these if you don't provide any information about them? They aren't even identified.
There is no description with the photos. I can't even tell what most of the brands are bu the pictures.!!
I guess they are telling us not to buy tablets with no brand name on them.
I agree! At least a model number and reason why it's on the list! Especially since the first one looks just like something I ordered from QVC this weekend at what seemed like a great price! Hey, they showed it playing "Angry Birds" quite nicely, and that's the only reason I ordered it! Naw, just kidding!
This article must have been written from one of those tablets. Tablet must not have had a keyboard.
Well, there are the two Archos tablets, and the last two Cruz tablets, and I think I recognize a few of the others from my hunt for cheap tablets, but this is pretty poor to post pictures without any caption.
Hey I like the reporting at CNET for the most part. But I have to agree this article is unreal and what editor would let it post as such. Sounds like they need better quality Control....or was it just a WOOPS...
I don't think you'd even need any pictures for this article. Just title it "Don't buy a tablet that costs less than $200 unless it is from Amazon." Only tablet I've seen for under $199 that was worth owning was the HP Touchpad, but the pricing on that was a rather special case.
This One! The page does a Post Back every time you change a slide. A tech website that is unable to implement technology! Nice...
You guys don't get it, it's brilliant. The point is that they all look alike, and they're ALL to be avoided, except for the iPad.
Well done.
Well done.
Have you ever seen what a 4 year old can do to a brand new iPad2, 32gb, 3G plus Wifi? They do not bounce on concrete. A $150 7" Android no name has ample ability to play kid games and educational stuff and if they smash it you will only cry a fifth as much.
I am a non-Techie and a sucker for the catchy title. I kept scrolling thru all 10 trying to recognize them and only saw Archos on one and Cruz on another. The last slide is the only one with useful info. Heck, I didn't even know there were more than 10 Tablets on the market, much less 10 Tablets to avoid. I have only seen 5 or 6 displayed in Best Buy.
Recommend you re-publish this article with complete details for the benefit of us Non-Techies. Thanks. Richard60

The captions got deleted or didn't get published somehow. The Velocity Cruz is the last tablet featured in this gallery, and the caption is intact on that screen. I'm sure someone will get this fixed sooner than later - and then you'll all look kind of silly for pointing out in 1 billion individual posts that there are only pictures and no content.
This site's "Image Gallery" slideshows are the slowest of any I have come across, guess they want me to read all the ads that have to load before the page and EVERY time the page changes. And the way it's set up I have to scroll down past the 'other galleries' just to see any caption, if there is one. I don't know why i keep clicking these links, guess I can always hope they will improved it, being "A CNET PROFESSIONAL BRAND" and all...
Since no information is provided, I guess the moral of the story is "Avoid Tablets"
As everyone else has noted, you just ticked me off w/ a headline for a non-existent story. Do your homework or hire a reporter/writer that will.
Is it the lazy writer that turned in this article or the editor that approved it? Both? This site is really losing all credibility...
1. There is no information for each picture, so the article is a useless waste of time.
2. Every time I click on a different thumbnail, it takes forever for the screen to refresh.
3. The entire concept of slideshows forces you to click numerous times to get through all of the content when it would be much easier to have it in one page. At least provide a "view all" option for people with only a little time to waste.

I'm guessing there was a serious tech glitch here. No reviewer could be this inept.
How many people reviewed this before it got posted? Are we supposed to guess at which tablets not to buy? ID 10 T Error!
Albeit true, TR seems to have screwed up with the posting of this article, you can still get the information you all seem to be so upset about. Within 2 minutes of realizing that they didn't include the captions/information, I found this same article, (CNET's own article as indicated right under the title) on CNET's site. It has all the captions/information. Just thought I would share with those who may have overlooked that little tidbit.
Some of you have simply reported the error while others appear to be quite upset and have posted rather harsh remarks. I'm just wondering if these people never make f**k-ups themselves.
incredibly FLUFFY posts , devoid of any depth.... this is not worthy ofTechRepublic. I hv same frustartion others expressed. I trust Tech Republic will make correction (make it up to us).
I hate the layout of these galleries! it takes much too long to navigate the pages in the gallery and the information layout is quite bad.
These are tablets to be avoided. Why? Is it because their name has too many letters? Showing photographs without offering any information to back up the rational is worthless and really only serves to degrade TechRepublic's reputation.
If you blow up those images to full size, you can detect at least two or three
brand names.
As an older female, weight is always a concern. Just what I want to have
to lug around, a portable gps, cell phone, tablet, ereader, none of which
have half the brains and functionaltiy of a laptop. Great idea, tech geniuses! --
NOT.
Just a way of burdening consumers with useless gizmos.

These 'goofs' are becoming far too common...Starting to dislike TechRepublic...
I had the sixth, and really need to say that is some piece of crap. Very slow, but only for reading, its good. Have android with 800 mhz, 2 Gb internal memory and one camera. Slow in some .swf pages, THAT IPAD dont have this function. works for 2 hours, more or less and fully charge in 2 hours.
The pandigital I think its worst. Have android, but more slow. it is very sold here in Brazil. But I prefer Ipad (obviously)

"2011's"
There should not be an apostrophe after the year. Doing so makes it a posessive.

I agree with the posts above....

* Among the Top Ten Articles to Avoid = morrieg@... about 3 days ago .I'm guessing there was a serious tech glitch here. No reviewer could be this inept. .
.... and on and on.
---POSSIBLE EXCUSES ---
Someone rushing for a plane, someone volunteering, someone shirking work responsibility, someone forced to do 18 tasks at the same time and being paid for only one job (my money's on the last one.....but still, the manager should've taken ownership & fixed it before allowing it to post on the web).
Whatever the excuse, I'll be avoiding TechRepublic articles in the future. This is just so sad.

Yes, everybody makes mistakes, but p proofreader should catch it. If not, correct that mistake - identify the tablets. I thought that would be done by now.
WTF?! This "article" has been up for 3 weeks and it's still screwed-up!
I can handle (and poke fun at) the typos, mangled grammar, and other examples of proofreading with a spellchecker, but this POS takes the cake!
I have yet to purchase any of the books offered through TechNet and after seeing this sort of crap you can bet I never will.

Well, I spotted a Pandigital, two Archos's, and two Cruz's. I guess when "CNET" creates a gallery they think the words will just show up magically.
