I would submit it really isn't I.T.'s place to tell the users, "You're at work." And I've been one who did so. At the end of the day, that's between them, their boss, and upper management.

Now, if your organization has policies against bringing their own device, so be it. But if it doesn't, you probably need to take the conversation up the food chain.

I personally would be very hesitant to give out wifi keys to employees for fear of them getting out in to the world. (Just to talk about an example.) We already know Androids have an opt out policy regarding parking the keys on Google servers. This is the type of thing you can express your concerns to management about. However, if they insist you support byod, you'll probably just have to suck it up. If something happens, they made the call.
