In point 1, the author states, "(Workers) will need to plan for continuous employment over longer life spans and make education an ongoing commitment." In point 4 she comments, "To remain employable, workers need to develop higher-order thinking skills, embrace emerging technology, and become lifelong learners."
Any IT professional who wants to enter and remain in the top tier of his profession simply has to accept that in our line of work, your education never comes to an end. If you stop learning, your knowledge gets stuck in time and in a few years you'll struggle to grasp the latest technologies and best practices. This is why most certification programs such as Cisco, CISSP, and now even CompTIA require certified professionals to re-certify and/or engage in CPE.
