Microsoft shouldn't try to be a software company
Microsoft's hardware has ALWAYS been bullet-proof and always worked well.
a) There haven't been any security issues with the hardware,
b) there's no bloatware making a keyboard the size of a suitcase and
c) there haven't been any EULA's to disclaim that the total responsibility for the hardware rests with the end user.
d) You actually OWN the hardware you buy from Microsoft AND
e) you get a 1 year warranty against defects in workmanship and/or materials.
f) MS hardware lasts for YEARS and YEARS without so much as one single update requiring a Degree in Computing Science to apply.

On the other hand, Microsoft's software ... Oh dear ... none of the above apply.
