Realistically the MPAA and RIAA both want full control of all media so that each time you view or listen to something, they get a royalty cut. And they also want total control of how much they can charge you for each instance of viewing or listening. If they could get away with it, they'd charge a royalty every time you bought a guitar string or a clarinet reed just because you might use them to reproduce a copyrighted song they hold. They are ruthless, unfeeling, greedy parasites more destructive to society and commerce than any pirate ever was.
