I hear and understand what you are saying, but corporations are the "company stores" of the last century. Mom and Pop stores and small businesses have been driven out of business by Walmart and the like. The small businesses that supported the nation in the previous two centuries. Those corporate jobs you are talking about? Who can afford to support a family on Walmart wages?
As for the movie and music labels? I would like the right to back up my media so the original would remain pristine and use a backup copy, but that is illegal. It might be different if the optical disk media didn't have the scratch resistance of a bar of soap, but it does. How about if they provided replacement media for a dollar plus shipping upon receiving the damaged media? NO, they expect you to buy it again.
And how about the FBI warning that cannot be fast forwarded through? The guys that post the movies online remove those for you. The corporations are busy punishing the paying users. The hackers not only distribute for free, they give better service!
SOPA is a murder\suicide! Thy big media is going to die of self inflicted wounds anyway, but not before they also murder the constitution and the bill of rights.
