A lot of sites detect the version of Flash and refuse to play it if your Flash plugin is out of date, as a reminder to you to go get the latest version for security reasons, most likely. HTML5 has nothing to do with this. It is a DELIBERATE decision, too, so your feedback probably won't be listened to.
