I'll just note that one of the features of Firefox 10 is that add-ons are assumed to be compatible. Each version of Firefox does not actually break that many add-ons, but Firefox used to be conservative in how it reported add-on compatibility.

Mozilla is putting a lot of effort into making updating very smooth and each of the next few releases will make things smoother in steps.
