Cloud isn't "forever", it is cyclical, like everything else
This will no more be the "permanent" state of affairs for service delivery than the previous candidates for that title which didn't work out... Those being:

1) Dumb-Terminals (DEC VT)
2) Desktop PCs
3) Client-Server
4) n-Tier
5) SaaS
...
6) "Cloud Infrastructure"
