Apple is evil and we can't let them take over education? Get a life...As far as the $400 device, it will be no different than the $20,000 tuition, those with financial needs will be helped by the institution, if they are so inclined. With the cost of education today, the $400 device is the least of the worries. The question of open vs closed systems is becoming moot, simply because truly open systems are disappearing because they are not economically viable. With the skyrocketing cost of protecting open systems from the various threats (hackers, terrorists, protesters, etc) the future will clearly occur behind walled gardens, if you like it or not.
