Never assume failure is terminal.

Google's products all seem to integrate, or have possibilities to do so.

There's too much to say in order to expand, and I am not really qualified (yet!) to do so...I just love Google and their way.

A much simpler explanation might be that now they are big enough and are surrounded by sufficient hyperbole to encourage smaller competitors to waste *their* money on the futureless projects, in order to see what is a forlorn hope and what flies. Market research by proxy backed up an acquisition strategy for the successes.

I can so look forward to giving Google another set of files to search through so that it can understand my characteristics and habits so much better. There really is a method to their madness ....
