My Mother, The Starship...
I had the honor of personally meeting James Doohan in the early 80's. We were staying at the same hotel, and I about fainted when I discovered his room was adjacent to mine! Being respectful of what actors endure while in public, I promised myself not to bother him. As I was leaving the room for dinner, he and Michael Dorn were walking down the hall towards me. I paused, and they both smiled at me, so I thought here goes. I introduced myself, and told Mr. Doohan I would never have entered the field of electronics engineering had it not been for his role as Scotty. Dropping right into character, he responded, "Aye, I'm glad ta hae helped ye out a wee bit, Laddie." A moment I shall never forget!
