I was THERE
First of all, let me state that I was actually THERE. The fashion show, incorrectly labeled as "Steampunk" by the AUTHOR, was actually titled Wicked Fashion Show on the schedule itself (I have a copy). The AUTHOR of this "article" titled it "Steampunk Fashion Show". A gross, misleading title by every stretch. I happen to know, not only several of the models (normal, every day people), but several of the people who MADE the costumes and outfits. Frankly, the pictures do absolutely NO justice to some of the items that were on display. On that, you will simply have to take my word. Nothing like a flash camera drowning out the beauty and sucking the absolute life out of everything. I am saddened that people cannot recognize that. I am also sorry that the woman who made the corset with the Apple logo is being shoved into the category of "a jumbled collection of embarrassingly ill-fitting and poorly-designed costumes". She IS an amazingly talented lady. Though I do not personally know her, I can assure you that I have spent many a day drooling over her craftsmanship. Just because it doesn't FIT the "Steampunk" category that the author of this article shoved it in, doesn't mean it is NOT a beautiful piece.
