According to Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary, "diffuse" means to pour in different directions, spread out, not concentrated, using more words than are needed, wordy, long-winded, or to scatter.
The word that should have been used in image two's description is "defuse," to remove the fuse from a bomb or similar device, to render harmless.

Discussion on:
Srsly! We know how it works. The brain types using our main lexicon, which was built using spoken data, it only goes to the "writing" lexicon when there's a serious mismatch, or when some habit is triggered. So, in typing we swap around homophonic or near-homophonic pairs a lot.
And machine spelling checkers don't pick up on them because they're not misspelled words.
Anyway, pointing out the error is fine, but lets not get too excited, shall we?
